I installed this on a 2006 Chevy Malibu SS. The turn signal stock was broke when I bought it, I ended up gluing it, and it did hold up, the only problem is I could not control the lights. That part of the stock didn't seem to work. As far as doing the job, it's very easy. There are a few videos on YouTube that show you how to do it. But from what I was reading, there are two different styles. The one on mine is very simple, a couple bolts on the underside of the steering column, two electrical connectors on the turn signal housing, and then two clips you push in to take it out. The other style you have to take the steering wheel off to install it. The only issue I had with the new part, is I had to take a file to the ears because they would not clip in. The position of the clip was just off by a little bit. But it just took a couple swipes with the file, and then it snapped right in. It works just like it should, blinkers turn on, and cancel out when the steering wheel comes back. And I can now control the headlights which for me was never really a big deal. But it seems like a decent part, and it is very easy to install if you need to do it yourself.
